Mary emigrated back to the US from Mayo in 1987 and got involved in the GAA within a few years with the development of the New York Ladies GAA where she served as its PRO. As time went on and with the massive growth and development in the underage ladies GAA she immersed herself in Feile NY, Gaelic4Girls and St. Brigid’s Ladies GF&CC (the first all-female GAA club on the US Eastern seaboard). Mary served in many positions with all the underage committees and has been the recipient of many accolades. From there Mary joined forces with the NY GAA and served as Secretary from 2011 to 2014 and is proud to have worked alongside Uachtaráin Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Larry McCarthy. Following this Mary relocated to Philadelphia and immediately became involved with Donegal Philadelphia GFC. Mary took a “siesta” last year while overcoming her second battle with breast cancer and came back into the fold this year and currently serves in the position of Club Secretary. With all that Mary is a die-hard Mayo GAA supporter (despite her Mom’s Kerry lineage) and that will never change! We are delighted to have her back as a dedicated tireless volunteer and wish her good health moving forward.
